Have you participated in the Adobe Captivate HTML5 Contest? Not yet? You still have twelve more days to grab this opportunity and win an iPad. So give your best shot to create an HTML5 course using Adobe Captivate 5.5 and HTML5 Converter.

A few days back I had shared some helpful resources and rules for the contest. Today, let me share some tips with you to make your mLearning course dazzle! 🙂

So here are the tips…

Less is more: Keep the number of words on the screen as low as possible. Do not add paragraphs and paragraphs of text. It’s difficult to read all the text on a small device.

Bigger font: Use a bigger font size for your text so that it’s easily readable on the mobile or tablet device.

Short and simple: Keep your course as short as possible. Sticking to 5-10 minutes duration for the course will help the learners complete the course. If you feel you have more to tell, split the course in modules and present it to the learner one at a time.

Scenario-based: Weave your course around a story instead of presenting a content dump in front of the learner. Remember, the learner will be viewing the course on his mobile device and you have a greater challenge to make the course as interesting and engaging as possible. Telling stories can help you with that. 🙂

Interactive: Add some interactivity to your courses to keep your learners engaged. Don’t let them just read, read, and read.

Add narration: Instead of creating a text-based course, add some narration to your course so that you get more onscreen space for graphical elements. But, if there are known connectivity issues, refrain from using audio as that might increase the buffer time.

Navigation buttons: If you plan to add custom navigation buttons to the course, let them be bigger in size considering that you are designing your course for touch interface.
